In principle, the surgical and curative management offered by Dr. Wohlt is available to all patients, regardless of whether they are self-payers, privately insured or covered by one of the statutory health insurers in Germany or Austria, an Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) or any another international insurer.
To that effect, the care provided is invoiced on a private fee-for-service basis. Patients receive an invoice that can be submitted to their responsible health insurance company for review regarding reimbursement.
An entitlement to reimbursement is not fundamentally implicit.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit invoices directly to the individual insurer's reimbursement departments.
Cost Estimate Before Vocal Cord Surgery
Particularly when vocal cord surgery has to be performed, the patient can request that the practice provide a written estimate on the treatment costs. Patients submit the estimate to their health insurer for review as to whether the costs are covered by their benefits plan and get confirmation in writing.
Certificates for the Tax Authorities (Surgery on Professional Voice Users)
Patients whose work is dependent on their voice and who would otherwise not be able to practice their profession without voice surgery, but whose health insurer will not cover the costs of surgery in whole or part, can request issuance of an
appropriate certificate for presentation to the tax authorities.
Depending on the circumstances, the costs of surgery may be tax-deductible as job-related expenses.
